The Fountain of Peace Ministries, a church, is a registered charity in England and Wales.
The Fountain of Peace Ministries has established this policy to ensure the safety of its sundries, children, adults, volunteers, and vulnerable adults as practically as possible. Safeguarding children and adults is everyone’s responsibility, whether they are staff, employees, visitors, or volunteers. Concerns should be raised promptly with the designated safeguarding lead, who will follow The Fountain of Peace Ministries' procedures to manage any issues. The Fountain of Peace Ministries will also foster a safe and supportive environment to encourage raising concerns, ensuring everyone feels comfortable doing so.
What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding simply involves protecting a citizen’s health, wellbeing, and human rights; enabling them to live free from harm, abuse, and neglect. It is a vital part of delivering high-quality health, safety, and pastoral care. Safeguarding children, young people, and adults is a shared responsibility.
Our Safeguarding Principles
At Fountain of Peace Ministries, we take safeguarding seriously. We are committed to ensuring that the principles and responsibilities for safeguarding children, young people, and adults at risk are implemented thoroughly, consistently, and conscientiously. Our focus is on prioritising the well-being of everyone within our premises and surroundings, including our social media platforms. We also guarantee that the principles and responsibilities of safeguarding children and adults are upheld whenever a citizen accesses Fountain of Peace Ministries, ensuring a safe experience for all interactions.
Safeguarding In Church Context
Jesus conveyed a very clear message about the most vulnerable people (Luke 10:25-37). It is a recurring theme throughout the entire Bible, with God depicted as the guardian of Israel (Psalm 121). The concept of safeguarding—referring to protecting, watching over, and caring for others, especially the vulnerable—is deeply biblical and rooted in God’s character and directives to His people (Proverbs 31:8-9). Proverbs 31:8-9 reflects a core principle of safeguarding: advocating for and protecting those who cannot defend themselves. God Himself is portrayed throughout Scripture as a protector, a shield, and a refuge, which is what He desires us to be for others (Psalm 121:7-8).
God's desire and wishes for the Church are not only that we are blessed and saved, but also that we all work towards ensuring the safety of all people. It is a permanent and essential part of Church life. Everyone has the right to feel safe and cared for within the Church and its environment, and it is also the responsibility of every member of the Church.
“……He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love [b]mercy, And to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:7-8).
